WEBINAR FOR THE PRESENTATION OF THE REACT PROJECT | 27 MAY 2021 | 11:30-12:30

REACT | REsilience and Adaptive CapaciTy in agriculture is a project co-funded by the Veneto Region and the European Union within the scope of POR-FESR 2014-2020the programme for the promotion of social and economic growth in the fields of industrial development, digital agenda, environment and innovation.

The REACT project, which will reach its completion in July 2021, consists in the construction of an innovative digital platform at the service of agriculture which, thanks to the collection and smart exploitation of data acquired from multiple sources, improves the efficiency of agricultural practices and makes them more sustainable. The platform is capable of incorporating a variety of tools, such as decision support systems (DSS) for irrigation and for the use of fertilisers or phytosanitary treatments, and is characterised by its interoperability, which can allow its use in other contexts too.

The project was presented by a network of companies consisting of Radarmeteo, for the design of the infrastructural data collection and integration system, which is the foundation of the platform; Idea-Refor the integration of satellite data and blockchain technologies, data mining and machine learning; and K-Digitalefor the development of the platform, the integration of modules and advanced functions.

The event, which will take place in the form of a webinar on Thursday the 27th of May 2021 from 11:30 to 12:30, intends to present the REACT project to the world of agriculture in the broadest sense (farms, farmers’ consortia, insurance companies, defence consortia, land reclamation authorities) and the interim results obtained so far, taking the opportunity to touch on certain matters that are crucial in the ongoing digitization of this sector.

WEBINAR PROGRAMME

11:30 | PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT
Alberto Garinei, Full Professor of Mechanical and Thermal Measurements at the Guglielmo Marconi University of Rome and scientific director of Idea-Re Srl

11:45 | EVERY ONE HAS THEIR OWN METEOROLOGY
Massimo Crespi, CEO of Radarmeteo Srl

Meteorological data is not a single thesaurum of knowledge and information. Each different application requires its own specific dataset, to properly represent its functions.

11:50 | REPRESENTATIVE DATA MANAGEMENT FOR AGRICULTURAL APPLICATIONS
Gianluca Ferrari, Chief Data Analysis Officer of Radarmeteo Srl

A presentation of the new approach to data, based on the integration of remote sensors within the IoT, with simulation models using specific reanalysis and post processing processes (neural networks and artificial intelligence algorithms), for maximum representativeness. The application of this approach to a new infrastructure for the management of this data now allows significant innovations in agricultural applications, both in terms of risk management (support for damage assessment, new insurance tools and risk assessment) and operations (support for irrigation and treatment activities).

12:00 | DATA-DRIVEN APPROACH TO ESTIMATING CUMULATION RISK IN AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE
Andrea Marini, Researcher and Data Scientist at Idea-Re Srl

This talk will address the matter of the data-driven method based on clustering that allows insurance companies operating in the agricultural sector to estimate the risk arising from adverse weather events.

12:15 | INTEGRATION OF IOT DEVICES IN REACT
Loris Francesco Termite, Researcher and Data Scientist at K-Digitale srl

The potential of the REACT platform related to the use of Internet of Things devices in agriculture will be illustrated. The results of a case study on the use of Edge Computing devices in the context of greenhouse agriculture will also be shown.
